Sunday night ramblings
Okay, I managed to survive a week of working out...sort of. I am lying in bed with a twisted ankle, listening to Journey, among others. I find I really like the song "She-wolf" by David Guetta and Sia. Anyway, I am trying to rest as much as I can because my ankle is gonna play all sorts of hell with me at work tomorrow. Anyway...I seem to have forgotten what I was gonna write about...oh well...

Chilling on a Saturday Afternoon...
So, yeah. I finally have a few minutes where I can breathe and not worry about the soon-to-be ex hubby being up my butt. I miss life. I would love to be able to go out and just sing my ever-loving tushie off, but it is not to be. Yes, those of you that know me well, you know that I am a total karaoke junkie. Life could be crapping on me on a daily basis, but if I get a chance to sing on a stage and let it all out...life is then good. So, as I do not have the opportunity to do so, I am sitting here at the kitchen table... belting out my fave songs to pretty much nobody...well... Buggy is here-and she is singing along with me. I love it!
The problem with being a karaoke junkie is finding people to duet with, and being able to know the songs they want to sing. Example: Over a year ago, a dear friend and fellow karaoke junkie was moving away. He had been asking me to do a particular song with him for months. So I agreed. I then proceeded to butcher the song because I hadn't bothered to learn it. I felt awful, but in his usual awesomeness, he was grateful. I hope I get another chance to do it, as I have learned the song.
SO. Recently, while chilling at my parents' house, we get on the conversation of going out karaoke-ing. The whole gang- Dad, Sister, Ken and Renee, neighbors Dan and Aaron, and Ruthie- have decided we should go karaoke-ing. (Big brother Chip is claiming retirement from karaoke.) Anyway, I look at Aaron, and I'm not sure who asked who,but I have agreed to sing a duet with him. His song choice? "Lucky" by Jason Mraz.
In an effort to NOT embarrass myself again, I have put the song on my mp3 player. After about a month, I have now heard the song more times than I can count. So today, I finally had a chance to sit and listen to the song without earbuds and actually see if I can hit the pitches that Colbie Caillat so effortlessly sets forth. I had tried this three weeks ago and failed miserably. I am happy to say that, today, I feel I am almost karaoke ready. Now, at this point, I am not really sure if the plans will actually happen, but if they do I am ready.
So, on another endeavor, my Buggy and I have decided to do a video of us singing the Glee mashup of "I feel pretty/ Unpretty." (With me doing the lower alto part sung by the Quinn character, and Buggy doing the Rachel part.) If we succeed in doing this, I promise to post it here... or facecrack...or whatever. Provided neither one of us gets distracted by.....
Oh....lookie there! SHINY!

Standing Still
No....I am not dead yet...although some days it feels like it. I have been working 11 hour shifts and it's catching up with me, so I spent this weekend sleeping...and writing....and sleeping. So today, as I got bored from all the sleeping, I went and practiced my newest hobby - archery. I'm not too shabby at it, either. I figure it gets me outside for a little bit. I also wrote...and...get this...FINISHED a story! Well, there's a lot more I could add but the basics are down...and now...I shall force down your throats....an excerpt:
"The sun had just set, the moon was full, and there was a slight chill in the air. I was admiring a particular bush that held blooms that were so white they seemed to shine silver in the moonlight. I heard something snap behind me and I spun around to find myself staring into the face of the most incredible man I had ever seen. He was smiling, which set off his fine features even more. His eyes were a blue-green color, and his face was shadowed by a close cut beard. He was touching a bloom close to the one I had been looking at."
Yeah. Cheesefest, I know, but I am in the throes of yet another soul-crushing crush. I might as well use the muse lest I lose it!
