So, yeah. I finally have a few minutes where I can breathe and not worry about the soon-to-be ex hubby being up my butt. I miss life. I would love to be able to go out and just sing my ever-loving tushie off, but it is not to be. Yes, those of you that know me well, you know that I am a total karaoke junkie. Life could be crapping on me on a daily basis, but if I get a chance to sing on a stage and let it all out...life is then good. So, as I do not have the opportunity to do so, I am sitting here at the kitchen table... belting out my fave songs to pretty much nobody...well... Buggy is here-and she is singing along with me. I love it!
The problem with being a karaoke junkie is finding people to duet with, and being able to know the songs they want to sing. Example: Over a year ago, a dear friend and fellow karaoke junkie was moving away. He had been asking me to do a particular song with him for months. So I agreed. I then proceeded to butcher the song because I hadn't bothered to learn it. I felt awful, but in his usual awesomeness, he was grateful. I hope I get another chance to do it, as I have learned the song.
SO. Recently, while chilling at my parents' house, we get on the conversation of going out karaoke-ing. The whole gang- Dad, Sister, Ken and Renee, neighbors Dan and Aaron, and Ruthie- have decided we should go karaoke-ing. (Big brother Chip is claiming retirement from karaoke.) Anyway, I look at Aaron, and I'm not sure who asked who,but I have agreed to sing a duet with him. His song choice? "Lucky" by Jason Mraz.
In an effort to NOT embarrass myself again, I have put the song on my mp3 player. After about a month, I have now heard the song more times than I can count. So today, I finally had a chance to sit and listen to the song without earbuds and actually see if I can hit the pitches that Colbie Caillat so effortlessly sets forth. I had tried this three weeks ago and failed miserably. I am happy to say that, today, I feel I am almost karaoke ready. Now, at this point, I am not really sure if the plans will actually happen, but if they do I am ready.
So, on another endeavor, my Buggy and I have decided to do a video of us singing the Glee mashup of "I feel pretty/ Unpretty." (With me doing the lower alto part sung by the Quinn character, and Buggy doing the Rachel part.) If we succeed in doing this, I promise to post it here... or facecrack...or whatever. Provided neither one of us gets distracted by.....
Oh....lookie there! SHINY!
